What do you do after being audited all week?!?!

Every year Josh gets audited at work--it is not fun. But the weekend following the audit, his family has grown quite accustomed to a needed vacation!!! :) So this year we headed to Port Arthur where Josh's Dad & wife live. Here are some pictures from our wonderful weekend:

We stopped near Houston at the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas. These are our three sailors taking a nap aboard the Battleship Texas!!

Dad got caught up in all the fun and helped man the cannons with Cami & Karston!!

Dad with his favorite kids at the base of the San Jacinto Monument. This was just after Mom filled their heads with all the Texas history facts she could think of!! :)

The beautiful San Jacinto Monument--yes, bigger than the Washington Monument, everything is bigger in Texas!!

Cami looking out the windows at the top of the San Jacinto Monument. Cami made my day, by saying she was glad we got to go to these places and learn about history!!! :) Josh & I love to do the same thing, so I guess it is in our blood!! he-he

Kaykay not quite for sure if she likes the ferry ride--ssscccaaarrryyy!!

Me & my kiddoes at the base of the San Jacinto Monument. This is where the Texans beat the Mexican Army with the battle cry, Remember the Alamo!! Remember Goliad!!!

Everyone needs a relaxing climb on the roof with Grandpa!! Be careful up there!!

Of course, a morning ride to the donut shop is a must on a relaxing weekend at Papa's house. Yummy!

Sled + lawnmower = FFFUUUNNN!!!

A tire swing Papa put up just for us! Josh's Dad got busy and put up a tire swing and regular swing up in his big oak trees. The kids loved it.

Daddy had to practice his roping skills. Karston had to be practiced on the most, since he didn't believe his Dad had been a real cowboy. Josh did tackle cows in the rodeo when he was younger--what do you call that?!

the Bright boys

Hanging out in a big Oak tree is a lot of fun!! Josh & I definitely felt like kids again.

Mom & Dad spending time with their boy!

Kaykay didn't quite like climbing a tree or even sitting on one at that.

It was fun watching Papa do rope tricks!
And, of course, since we had a babysitter, Josh & I took off on a date. We forgot the camera though. :( We got something to eat, went to the Art Museum and the Texas Energy Museum, and then we headed to Pleasure Island where Josh asked me to marry him. We couldn't find our pier though . . . well . . . really there were no piers left thanks to Hurricane Ike. :( I was very glad to be able to spend time with my husband.

Our Arkansas cousins keep posting movies of them sledding in the snow . . . well who REALLY needs snow when you have a sled hooked to a lawnmower?!?!!!! :)
We were definitely glad to get away. . . . but we did make it home in time for the seven layer Mexican dip, baked chips, and root beer!!! So, we could watch the Office!!! :)

Cute pictures. What a great place to getaway!! Kayden is so funny, Ericka and I were just laughing about how much she hates the sand, and all the pictures you post of her just hanging out in the car. She's SO cute....all your kiddos are. Love the pic of Karston and Daddy in the tree. That's framable!!
