Hermit Elvis Bright Youngblood
On Sunday night, we decided to drive over to Portland where Josh likes to fish. He said there were a lot of good sea shells, so off we went to find some shells. And we did. :) We saw some shells that had hermit crabs in them, so we left them in the water, but we took the other shells home with us in a big styrophone cup.
Look how pretty the shells were. Hunter was happy to find this one.

And look at the one Cami found--beautiful.

I didn't check it out, until I looked around me and noticed all the kids were still in bed. I walked into the kitchen and noticed a hermit crab making a mess in my kitchen with shells all over the floor, trying to get out of that cup. Josh took the little guy and put him in the bay before he went to work. The kids then did an inspection of the other shells, cleaned them and everything. We put them in a zip lock bag, so Hunter could take them back to North Carolina. The bag was sitting on the chest in the living room. So . . . the next night, I went downstairs at about 3 AM, Kayden had been coughing and needed some water. And, yes, in the bag another hermit crab was rattling around in the shells . . . Hunter and Kelsey (after her failed attempt to kill it with ivory liquid) decided to keep the crab and give it to their brother, Harrison. Harrison named it Hermit, Kelsey gave it the middle name of Elvis, and of course it is a little bit Bright, and now a lot Youngblood--wow such a grand name for a little hermit crab with a new home in the smokey mountains. :)
