Cameron's Crazy Birthday :)
Cameron had her big twelfth birthday this week--they were planning on having a slumber party outside, but with the colder weather, we decided to do it inside instead. So, the big ole' tent went up in Cameron's bedroom. :)
We had a mixture of girls from Corpus & Portland, but I think within the first five minutes, they ALL were friends & having a great time with each other.
The Portland schools have been right on target with my Cameron--she has seemed to fit right in from the very beginning, and has had no trouble making friends (yeah! I was worried for her). :) One of her really good friends that she met on the very first day was Audrey (the girl in the blue). They had started talking in P.E. about what college they wanted to go to, and Audrey said she wanted to go to BYU. Cameron said she wanted to go to BYU too. At the time she was too scared to ask her if she was a Mormon and vice versa. After we heard this story, we encouraged Cameron to just ask her, she probably was. A couple of days later in science class (Audrey is in my third period class) we sang, "Once there was a Snowman." We were talking about the three states of matter . . . . anyway, Audrey got the courage to ask Cameron if she knew this song (after singing it in my class, Camee's Mom's). And then, of course the follow-up question, "where do you know it from?" :) Apparently, Audrey had gone home and told her parents about Cameron and how she thought she was a Mormon too. So . . . moral of this story . . . if they say they want to go to BYU . . . they could be a Mormon . . . but if they know 'Once there was a Snowman' . . . they have to be one. :)
I can't believe my Cameron will be twelve on the 30th--a young woman for sure. She is truly beautiful on the inside and out. She is friendly and kind to everyone. She is outgoing, and always looking to have fun and be goofy. She plays the violin beautifully, and is truly one of my best friends. I love being around her. I am so thankful she is the oldest, providing a great example for her brother and sisters. I can't wait to see what she becomes. :)
