Kelsey, TX

My cousin, Russell, recently emailed my parents asking for any information, personal history, about my Grandmother Ault.  Right before my grandmother died, she gave me a brown leather bag, full of information—personal histories she had written about her own family and other family stories she knew about our ancestors.  The bag contained letters written by her father to her mother when he was in Texas City, just a ton of information about my family.  After she passed away, I took all of the information, typed it, put it into book format, and gave it to my immediate family.  This week I got to make a copy of my grandmother’s and my book for Russell.  It brought back so many memories (it had been a while since I had read it).  I really enjoyed being able to share that information with Russell, and I KNOW our grandmother is grinning from ear to ear knowing that Russell is so interested in doing geneology.

This week my parents visited Kelsey, Texas where my grandmother grew-up.  It was a Mormon settlement here in Texas with over 500 members of the church living there at one time.  It was the largest Mormon settlement outside the state of Utah.  Well, the city is more of a ghost town now . . . but these are some pictures my parents sent me of the Kelsey Church building.
