September 11

This afternoon we were able to attend a special memorial for the victims of 9/11. It was held at the Nueces County Courthouse. They had music and speakers---it was really a nice way to 'never forget' that awful day in American history. The fire department came sporting their brand new fire truck. :) The most emotional moment for me was when we listened to the stories of the brave men & women who gave their lives to save as many people as possible in the burning buildings. After the tribute, we were all able to stand and applaud the firemen who were there.
Raul Torres speaks . . . (hopefully, my new rep. come Nov. in the TX house) side note: pretty funny how only Republican candidates showed up for the event---and it was NOT a Republican event---the people organizing the event had actually asked for volunteers to speak today (I'm sure the Ortiz' got the message)---anways---Connie Scott's hubby was there, Raul Torres was there, Blake Farenthold was there, some Gil Hernandez shirts were sported, but not one Democrat candidate or t-shirt or anything---why is it that Republicans are the only ones who think it might be appropriate to remember what happened on 9/11 or (as my friend Allison pointed out) maybe there was just too many prayers said there today?!

the brand new fire truck!! :)

Kayden waving the American flag . . .

Camee's cool picture of the palm trees . . .

Camee listening to the speeches . . . (this week---Camee came home & told me about an experience she had at school. They had some people come speak to them about our country--what it means to be free & what it has cost those willing to fight in freedoms cause. She said that many of her fellow students, and especially those in the younger grades weren't listening and 'didn't take it seriously.' As you might expect, at that very moment, I knew I had done my job as a Mom.) :) he-he

last, but not least . . . WE WANT UNCLE JOSH TO WORK FOR CHANNEL 3!!!! :)
