Whirlwind Weekend!

We had a whirlwind of a weekend!! Here's a recap of what we did:

1. They may look innocent, but looks can be deceiving. :)Kayden had so much fun with her cousin, EEEEnnnaaa!! They are only six weeks apart, so they are ripe for a good time when they are together. In the past though, they have appeared more as enemies--fighting, you know--MY toy! etc., but this time around they were able to get past their differences. So much so, that my little Kayden decided to stay the week with Memaw and Papa and Enna, so I'm home alone. :(Memaw loves the deer that comes in her yard, so she got the girls matching deer shirts and pants. They are pretty cute!! :) We love our Kaykay and Ena!
2. We got in a mean game of PIG! The finals consisted of Josh and my Dad (of course I was rooting for the Ault--PIG wins must stay in the family)--so here is how the final seconds went:
Papa shoots--he scores!!It is a must shot for Josh . . .. . . no good!!! The title goes to Papa!!!!! or the Russian Bear as we called him growing up (side note: I was Miss USA during PIG, tennis and other sporting events).
Cami surprised us all by making some great shots--little dribbles . . . WNBA?!?
3. We enjoyed hamburger and hot dogs. The weather was perfect!! Well, us beach dwellers, got mighty cold as night approached (I actually had to go and buy a jacket), but during the day it warmed up to a perfect temperature--great for a picnic. :) Two two-year-old's and a bag of Cheetos--what could be better or more messier?!?

Cami gave everyone her magic back rubs too. :)

4. About 10 years ago, when Josh worked at a hotel in Nacogdoches (going to school). A Mauritian, not someone from Mars, walked in the door. He had come with his sister to get registered and ready for school to start at SFASU. His sister had a young boy, and Josh volunteered me to babysit while they got things finalized. And thus began our friendship with Ashwyn Mungur. He is from an island called Mauritius--it is on the other side of Africa in the Indian Ocean. Josh & I definitely have plans to go there one day--it is really beautiful (from pictures), and we want to see it in real life. Ashwyn brought me sea shells back from Mauritius, and I still have them in a glass container in my house. :) Ashwyn was a lot of fun when he first came to the USA--he had never seen a squirrel before, and he couldn't quite get over how they looked. Josh, as well as, my brother-in-law, Clay, and cousin, Jared, helped Ashwyn get to know everything about the US. That included letting him know about the DQ blizzard, how to play racquetball, and other such things. :) Josh and Ashwyn also worked at a catering business while they were both in school. They have lots of stories. :) Ashwyn got his green card this weekend, by marrying the girl of his dreams--we are very happy for him and Della! :)

I broke out my boots for the cold weather!! This is Josh & I before we left for the wedding:
This is Ashwyn & Josh during the reception. The wedding took place at a picturesque pond in Kilgore, Texas. It was really beautiful.
Ashwyn is Hindu. We were hoping to see elements of that in the wedding, but we learned they were going to have another wedding in Mauritius this time next year--we soooooo want to go (anyone want to donate to a good cause?!?). The cake was unbelievable. It looked really neat.Ashwyn & Della. :)

Ashwyn's sister and son were also at the wedding--her son is now 17. Yes, I feel old. :) We really had a great time reconnecting with our friend. And one great weekend!!!!! It just went by too fast. :) Thanks Memaw and Papa for letting us come to your home. Daddy--you have really made your home a fun place for my kids--basketball goal, softball fields, tree house, volleyball net, camping--we are definitely coming back soon for a longer visit!!! :)

question about your photography: i really want a family picture taken soon and i was wondering if when we are down in corpus the week of thanksgiving, you would mind taking our family pics. will you be in town? are you interested? and what do you charge? we've tried doing our own with joeys camera, tripod and timer but with kids, that never turns out! and i want more of a nice casual pic instead of a "studio" pic this year. anyways, let me know! thanks amber!
